Accordionists and the Coupe Mondiale
Competition archives show one of the ways accordionists build careers, repertoire and international connections.
The Coupe Mondiale is useful to the atlas because it makes performance culture legible through an institutional archive. The CIA describes its history and publishes rules and event information. A competition is not the whole accordion world, but it is a clear lens on categories, preparation and the movement of players between countries.
Read a competition result as a dated record, not as a permanent ranking of artistic worth. The category, rule set, venue and year all matter. So does the repertoire a player chooses and the instrument setup that supports it. Those details belong in a linked performance file when a source confirms them.
The Atlas keeps the event page separate from the artist page, then reconnects them through the encyclopedia. This helps a reader move from a competition date to a person, a piece or a listening question.
